The Value Of Hope

Emilio, freely, admitted he didn't get the whole passive resistance bit.

Within the stark prison, the physical needs of the detainees were, surprisingly, well attended to. His cell leader explained what they desperately needed was the will to endure, to persevere. Without that, death would be preferable.

Emilio fidgeted, adjusting the mask concealing his face. Sprinting from cover, he ran for the wall and, adopting a classic fielder's stance, hurled the bundle up and over.

He fled, unsure what good a bunch of wildflowers would do anyone anyway?

Being still young and relatively free, Emilio greatly underestimated the value of hope.
