The Weight Of Justice

Afsanah’s heart was every bit as heavy as the unyielding stone in her hand, hearing the charges read. She would miss her friend, Soraya, desperately but for her crime the punishment was undeniable.

This story was written for the Trifextra Writing Challenge, a weekly micro-fiction challenge requiring a story of exactly 33 words based on the prompt: stone.

  1. A powerful story. Exemplifies that eternal struggle between loyalty to friendship and loyalty to the rule of law, however hash that may seem.

  3. This is a powerful piece! To be resigned to the fate of someone dear-because that fate is inescapable would tear my heart out! Well done!

  4. A lot of anguish here, and a level of helplessness that is hard to express. Nice job.
