Smoke And Mirrors

While Talanda understood Felinoids preferred to conduct business meetings using holographic disguises, she was at a loss to understand why a fat, greasy, objectionable-smelling creature like Gunther would choose to adopt a holographic form embodying all of those characteristics as well?

She, also, wondered what exactly was in the noxious hand-rolled cigarette he insisted on smoking that led him to think he could deceive a Master Telepath into trusting him? While it was true recent events had led the two of them to have a common interest in punishing Janx, she had no intention of allying with such a morally-bankrupt fool.

While it was conceivable a being of his limited skills might have someday proven useful to someone, that someone was most certainly not her. Focusing her psychic powers on stopping Gunther’s tiny heart, she wondered if there was truly anyone who would miss or mourn the furry little bastard.

This story was written for the weekly Visual Dare flash fiction prompt: obscured. As a personal challenge, I have been stringing the prompts from week to week into an ongoing story. This marks the 18th such and previous installments may be found here.
