Getting Away

“I’m really not sure I like this as a vacation spot, Morty. There’s not even a castle for us to sleep in. No, I’m really not sure this will do at all.”

“Aww c’mon, Estelle. It’s exactly what we talked about ….some place off the usual aquarium vacation circuit. There’s no overcrowding, no feeding frenzies, none of that. We get to enjoy the simple basics…some gravel, a few plants and blissful peace and quiet.”

“I dunno, Morty. If it’s such an idyllic spot then how come it was so cheap? There has to be something wrong with it if they were asking so little.”

“Are you never happy Doris?”

As the two continued their usual squabbling, Mittens carefully rose to inspect them, although it was doubtful vibrations from his paws would alert the bickering duo. He hoped they wouldn’t continue arguing for long. Anger always seemed to taint the flavor of these special imported treats.

This story was written for the weekly Saturday/Sunday Tails flash fiction photo prompt and phrase: unlikely vibrations.
