The Hunter Hunted

Blinking into existence at the coordinates she’d determined from examining his possessions, Talanda found no indications whatsoever Janx was anywhere in the vicinity. Instead, she found herself in the Los Angeles Metropolitan, standing before a truly hideous surrealist painting with the mocking title of “Nice Try”. Janx had quite an infuriating sense of humor.

More exasperating was the necessity of wiping the memories of the over 200 museum patrons who’d seen her materialize out of thin air. Uncertain she’d been entirely successful, she now found herself at the Beverly Wilshire trying on new appearances. Accustomed to existing in a state of energy, it was so difficult for her to decide.

She was jolted from her efforts by awareness of an entity she’d not encountered in over two millennia. As if she did not have enough issues to contend with, she could not help but wonder what was he doing here?

This story was written for the weekly Visual Dare flash fiction prompt: parallel. As a personal challenge, I have been stringing the prompts from week to week into an ongoing story. This marks the 32nd such and previous installments may be found here.
