Christmas Innocence

Marta awoke to the sound of Maggie sobbing. Rolling over on the lumpy mattress, she hugged the child to her.

“What’s wrong, sweetie?”

“Santa..he not coming. We gots no chimbly for him to come down.”

Sighing with despair, Marta wished that were the only reason Santa would have no presents for the girl this year.
